The birth of a child is always a happy event, but some pregnant women do not always haʋe the opportunity to give birth in ideal conditions, and many of them do not even make it to the maternity ward. This is exactly what happened to CNN anchor Kasie Hunt, who posted on Instagram how she gave birth to her second child, a girl named Grey, on the bathroom floor.
The top national affairs analyst for CNN announced the birth of her second child Grey Hunt Rivera in a post on Instagram on March 3. On People.com, her daughter was born on March 1. 3-year-old Mars Hunt is another child that Hunt and her husband, Matthew Mario Rivera, have together.
As she explained in the post, even though she had a scheduled C-section, her little girl apparently had other plans. After only 13 minutes of labor, Kasie realized she wasn’t going to make it to the hospital. So she gave birth on the bathroom floor, and the baby was delivered by her father.
“My husband are thrilled to introduce our daughter, Grey Hunt Rivera, though really, she introduced herself. Grey was delivered by dad on the bathroom floor after 13 minutes of labor, before we even had time to dial 911, and 24 hours before she was scheduled to arrive via C section,” the emotional mom wrote.
Hunt said in her post: “We are so grateful for the @dcfireandems team who guided us through the ᴛᴇʀʀɪʙʟʏ stressful moments before she took her first breaths and who came within minutes to deliver mom and baby safely to the hospital. We couldn’t be more thrilled to be a family of four, and our big brother Mars could not be more proud.
Hunt characterized the delivery as Grey showing an “independent streak” in an interview with people. “We’re reminded that life will be a lot more unpredictable now that we’re a family of four, but we’re also incredibly happy about it!”
Hunt has been in the spotlight because of pregnancies before. Hunt was criticized on Twitter in 2019 while working as an NBC News political journalist after someone used the word “fat.” In a tweet that said, “I’m 8 months pregnant,” Hunt quickly retaliated. Gathered a tonne of support from users and members of the media community rapidly.
Mars Hunt was born shortly after, and his gender came as a surprise. “We got to really say, ‘It’s a boy!’” Hunt and her husband told today Parents at the time. “ As the last time, Hunt was able to draw a comparison between her son’s potential and the circumstances of his birth.
The two said, “Mars must already have huge things planned, considering he started life at 9 1/2 pounds. We adore him so much and are eager to see how much happiness he will bring to our small family of three.
